Callaway Gardens in Georgia offers Horticulture & Education Internships:

From Patricia Collins, Director of Callaway Gardens:
We have two exciting opportunities for students at Callaway Gardens!  For over 50 years we have offered a Summer Internship Program.  A number of our past participants are now involved in the management of major gardens.

We offer Internships in our Horticulture and Education Departments.  Each is an eleven (11) week program from late May through early August offering practical work experience supplemented with fieldtrips and a few classes.  The Horticulture program is designed to provide a well-rounded experience throughout the Gardens operations including Horticultural Displays- indoors and in conservatories, The Day Butterfly Center, Fruit and Vegetable Production, Gardens Trails and Greenhouse Production.  The Education program is a great experience for students interested in public horticulture, extension service and environmental education.  Education interns teach programs in natural history and home horticulture. Both internships are invaluable for futures in Botanical Garden Management, Landscape Design or Environmental Education.  Students work 40-hour weeks with some evening and weekend hours required for work and study.  We offer an hourly wage with housing available.

Hort Grad Council hosts next 'Brown Bag Seminar' Thurs.10/31

Howdy!
October's Brown Bag Seminar is taking place this Thursday, October 30th at noon (12pm) in the second floor conference room. Our speaker for this month will be Sean Carver presenting his dissertation research "Evaluating the Ornamental Potentials of Four Native Texas Coastal Species".
Brown Bag is an open forum during which a speaker will present their research and then discussion regarding topics related to the research is encouraged. Just a reminder that this is not a defense, but an opportunity to talk about different research topics and methods.
Drinks will be provided, please bring your brown bag lunch.
Look forward to seeing everyone there!
