HORT 485 - GREEN Roofs on Campus

















Fall 2012 Hands-on project Hort 485 - Green roofs on campus (1-3 credits)
Upon completion of this class you will be able to:
*Describe the general design of a green roof system
*Identify and propagate suitable plants
*Install green roof plants
*Maintain a green roof system
*Install devices for environmental data collection
*Develop a research protocol
*Organize and carry out an experimental design
*Collect and analyze data present a report or paper

  1. Great post and pictures! I'm getting Hawaii roofing done for my home and have been looking online at some ideas. I'm definitely going to talk to my girlfriend about the green option because we are really into the environment. Thank you for sharing this with us!

  2. This is a great school project! This is a good way to subtly teach the younger generations the value and the benefit of eco-friendly technologies and developments. And one of the easiest ways to involve oneself is through installing green roofs. Since we can’t expect the initiative from everyone, I think it is very wise to make it mandatory in schools. :D
