Mark your Calendar: Spring Plant Sale March 29th

Student members of the Texas A&M University Horticulture Club prepare for the 32nd annual plant sale on campus March 29. (Texas A&M AgriLife Communications photo by Kathleen Phillips)The TAMU Horticulture Club will be holding its (32nd!) Annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, March 29th - plan ahead and don't miss it!

The sale will be held from 8am-3pm on the lawn of the Horticulture/Forest Science Building on West Campus. Free parking will be available.

General Election for Officers will be held during the next General Meeting on Wednesday, March 5th @ 8:15 in HFSB 102.

3 Ways to Participate in this year's Student Research Week:

Embedded image permalink 1) Participant - As a student, you can present your work and compete for prizes! Any student who is the primary author of a research project, class project, or paper may submit an abstract to be considered for the oral or poster competition. Due to limited seats, we encourage research participants to register and submit their abstracts as soon as possible. Registration at http://srw.tamu.edu will close on March 3rd, 2014 at 5pm.

2) Volunteer - As a student volunteer, you can play a key role in the continued success of this event. We have many opportunities for your organization members to volunteer in marketing the event and throughout the week of March 24-28. The organization that contributes the most cumulative volunteer hours will receive a $500 cash prize! Students can also volunteer on an individual basis without affiliation to any student organization.

3) Judge - If you feel you have what it takes to critically analyze student research, do sign up to participate in the student research week as a judge. To be a judge you must be a currently employed faculty, staff or graduate student at Texas A&M University.

Support undergraduate interns as they share 10-12 minutes worth of their internship experiences!  Three interns will be presenting on Tuesday at 3:30 in HFSB 203 on Tuesday, March 4th.

TNLA Horticulture Scholarships Available - Apply by May 1st!


The TNLA Education & Research Foundation gave away over $25,000 in scholarship money last year to 8 deserving horticulture students.  

Do you know a deserving student who is studying horticulture in college or planning to study horticulture next year?  Encourage them to apply for a TNLA E&R Foundation scholarship.  The deadline is May 1st, 2014.
