A&M Garden Club Scholarships - It's time to apply!



The A&M Garden Club, website http://www.amgardenclub.com/, invites a TAMU student majoring in Horticulture or related area to apply for several scholarships.  Provided below is a brief summary of the scholarship opportunities.
         
1) District V scholarship applications are due to be received by March 1. The forms and application information are online at the District V web page: https://sites.google.com/site/tgcdistrictv/, then Scholarships on the lower left side. The scholarship is for a freshman or rising sophomore, resident living in District V (about 20 counties - generally College Station to Mason, Comanche to Caldwell), scholastic record of at least B average or better, Hort, etc., related major.  Send the application to Evelyn Knox, P.O. Box 539, Giddings, TX 78042, 979-542-0656.          

If you would like an endorsement letter from the A&M Garden Club for the District V scholarship, please e-mail Shirley Vasovski at least a week before letter is needed.  Include three paragraphs or several sentences about yourself that can be included in recommendation letter i.e. ability, interest in field, etc., based upon judging criteria.  Kay Hamn is the current A&M GC President.  Clubs may also apply through their hometown Garden Club.

2) Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. gives annual scholarships to Texas resident students who are college-level juniors or above. The applicant must have at least a 3.25 GPA and be majoring in a field of horticulture.  The fields of horticulture included are floriculture, landscape design, horticulture, botany, biology, plant pathology, forestry, agronomy, environmental concerns, city floriculture planning, land management and other allied subjects.  The application deadline is October 1 for a scholarship given the following spring/winter semester.  Application form for TGC online at http://www.texasgardenclubs.org/scholarship.html.

3) National Garden Club awards undergraduate and graduate students in hort and related major, 3.25 or better. Application form online at http://www.gardenclub.org/Scholarships.   Due to State March 1.
