In this presentation, Julie
Borlaug, granddaughter of the late Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Norman E.
Borlaug, will lead a panel discussion with students and development experts on
the role that students play in international development via the World Food
Prize Global Youth Institute and the annual Thought for Food Challenge.
During the hour-long discussion,
Will Rooney, professor in the Texas A&M University Department of Soil &
Crop Sciences, will share his experience with the World Food Prize Global Youth
Institute and the experience’s implications in his college career.
Also on the panel will be student
representatives of Texas A&M University’s Team Giving Tree — the winning
team in last year’s Thought for Food Challenge. The team members will discuss
their participation and review the eco-park project that led them to victory in
the contest.
Additionally, student attendees of the World Food Prize Global Youth
Institute will share their experience and the affect their participation has
had on their university careers at A&M
